Speaking of durability, has anyone ever seen a pro coating rated for 5+ years show good hydrophobics during the last year or so? It seems most coatings fail around the 2-3 year mark and I rarely see anyone ever post a video of a coating with great hydrophobics that is 5 or more years old. Just curious.
I think a lot of manufacturers when they rate durability do so for the entire life of the coating, not just hydrophobics and ‘peak’ performance. For e.g. a 3 yr coating might have peak performance for 1.5-2 yrs but after that the coating and hydrophobics will start to break down and deteriorate. Come 3 years the coating is still there to some degree and still protecting, but not at the condition we would find acceptable.
I’d prefer they rate them based on ‘peak’ performance.
