Then take it in for warranty work. If you screw around with it and make it worse it may not be covered.

I would love to do a chrome delete around the windows but I’m certain I could not do it myself to my satisfaction and I also can’t justify paying $700 to have it professionally done.

    Re: Plastic-Chrome Trim Restoring

Are you sure it's not anodized aluminium?
Some chemichals in like APC and even some prewash and car soaps do a number on that material sadly. Like some Volvo has them trim and MB that I know of. Then it's nothing that you can really do but change them. Here in Sweden we have a lot of Volvos and you see a lot of these problems comes and goes on forums and fb groups. Not sure it's the right translation of anodized aluminium. But hope you understand what I meen Plastic-Chrome Trim Restoring

I looked it up a little more. It's usually that alkaline has dried on them. If it's aluminium which most newer cars use as material on chrome trim anodized or eloxycated I think it's called. You need to not let it dwell for longer time and be very carefull even with low alkaline cleaners. As it dries the ph level rises fast. It's also sensetive to waterspots.

The solution if it's not gone to far. Is to use a metal polish. Some says Meguiars NXT Metal Polish as it's not abrasives in it and chemichal cleaning them. Maybe even use on a little polisher if you have access to that. A brand named Glanol is also mentioned. Don't know if it's available in the US. Maybe if it's not bad Mothers Mag & Alu could work as well.
