    Cleaning floor mats

I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the mopar floor mats. I cleaned them yesterday. It removed the salt but they still have dirt in them. What do you guys use to clean rubber floor mats? Thanks.

    Re: Cleaning floor mats

I have WeatherTech floor mats and just cleaned mine with the WeatherTech floor liner cleaner and protectant (2 products). The cleaner didn't get them 100% clean, could still see some dirt left behind, but the protectant hid it fairly well.

I also have Weathertechs and use their dedicated cleaner and protectant. The cleaner did not do such a great job on the first attempt so I used straight Megs D101 with a small brush. That seemed to clean the heavy grime much better.

I’ve had good luck with LA totally awesome and a tuf shine brush. But I also blast them with my power washer too.

Make it trice with WeatherTech floorliners and I too use the combo. I've also used leftover Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam to clean them and it did an awesome job but those products are alkaline with a high pH. The protectant from WeatherTech is very good and made to work on their floorliners but I can't see it not working on all rubber matsCleaning floor mats

    Re: Cleaning floor mats

Again with the WeatherTechs.....the ones in my daughter's Hyundai were really bad. Hit them with straight Optimum Power Clean and a white drill brush. I was able to get the bristles of the brush down into the edges and contours pretty well. I decided to try something different to finish them off with, as I've always used the WeatherTech protectant. One the drivers mat, I wiped it down with the new Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene Interior detailer, as they are black and I thought it would make a difference.....it did indeed make a slight difference, and they are not slippery.

When you say "they have dirt in them".....are you seeing granules of dirt or just dirt stains in the rubber itself? I've actually had to take customers rubber mats and soak them in warm/hot water and APC to lift some of that out.

    Cleaning floor mats

Factory Toyota Tacoma mats are a PITA

They have a similar amount of flex as Weathertech or similar mats but they also have a “rubbery” surface that collects dirt and is soft enough that even a fairly mild drill brush will leave scuff marks

Superclean and a medium stiff brush and a pressure rinse is about the best I have found but even that leaves some ground in red dirt

I have even tried P&S Brakebuster since they are rubbery but it’s less effective than Superclean

Sadly they are in great shape otherwise and I’m not going to buy aftermarket mats to replace them

Dressing makes them look a bit better but it still bugs at me

Man, I never would have thought of that but I am going to try it

I can kind of roll them up just a bit and get half at a time in a wash bucket and see what happens

    Thanks
