Decal Backing Adhesive Stuck

I put on a NOS 20 year old decal on a tractor hood. 99 percent went well but a couple of areas has the adhesive from the top backing stuck on it. How can I get it off? Maybe it will dry out enough to rub off?

What have you used so far? Did you just peal the sticker off?

Try Goo Gone, Goof Off, or 3M Adhesive Remover. One of those should do the trick.

Allow one of those products to dwell for a little bit first.

I have seen some real problems with goof off, a lot of times people get it confused for Googone, it can be very very damaging to some paints, I have one friend that completely clouded his paint with It, and another one, it completely dissolved the paint he was working with. So much easier to use something safe like Googone or 3m remover.

I've always started with Goo Gone and then stepped up to Goof Off for what was left. Won't do that again...

The bottom line is Googone citrus-based which means it can be used on virtually anything, goof off is acetone based …..this article sums it up pretty well:

Citrus will damage some plastics. Concentration matters.
