I have so many old mf towels of varying types that I use for tires, wheels, engine bay, muffler-tips that I don't even need to buy cheap ones. Hell, some of my old mf towels that are in pretty good shape I used in the interior for various things as well.

I did it a long time ago. You get a lot of little pieces when you cut them. Shake them out (where it's easy to clean up the little bits) and then wash them. You shouldn't have much of a problem. They're not like cotton that keeps unraveling. They actually become like edgeless after one washing - as I remember it. Take one and try it.

    I do the same
I have invested hundreds of dollars in quality MF. But I buy a bag of the Costco crap for dirty jobs. Wish they came edgeless, without tags.

The only thing wrong with Costco towels is having to cut the tags off of each towel when they’re new. Other than that they’re just as good as any other general purpose microfiber towel. Never had them scratch anything.

Yep. As I pull a new one out of the package I simply rip the tag off and move on. The tag comes out pretty cleanly. Never had a single issue with them either and I have a Toyota AND a Honda in the family right now! If they were dangerous to paint, those would be two car where it would be VERY noticeable.

Its always a great thing to be able to buy a quality product without having to order it. I go to Sam's now and will look at the microfibers there.

I’ll have to try that sometime now that you say it’s fairly easy. I’ve always had a feeling that it might tear the edge off or leave a never ending thread loose on the corner that would eventually ruin the entire towel. It’s funny how we tend to worry about towels. Lol.

I still cringe everytime my PFM snags on a piece of trim. Lol.

Re: Anyone using MF's from Sams Club?

Just grip it tightly with your thumb at the point where the tag and the seam meet and rip it right off. It should shear cleanly. I've got about a 95% success rate. Those that didn't tear off cleanly broke a couple threads in the seam, but haven't come unraveled. I just trimmed off the loose ends.

Yeah, trim and badges are the devil when it comes to snagging a towel, no matter how expensive.

Won't that make them shed bits of microfiber constantly creating another problem?
