Reporting back. Test section done on 1 square foot section of hood. Within my skill set I just could not get by with just the Sonax/Rupes Yellow. Very pleased with the Jescar/Sonax combo though. Kinda expected this as prior experience on my Focus ST with same paint but less swirls came out great with same combo.
Sorry I just could not get decent pics, but I believe the results are above 90%ile. The ultimate test on this car will be the door mirrors, yikes!

looks good--
I just never do test spots on the hood
Mostly do them on the rear of the qtrs -- MAYBE, I MIGHT do one on the deck lid or roof, never the hood though

I’m curious why you take that approach to test spots?
Is it because the rear quarters are frequently more hammered by contaminants or it’s less noticeable in case there is an issue or…?

Its mostly just a conservative habit. If I happen to make a mistake its on a more inconspicuous place-- thats all. I would bet most folks do it on the hood though, cause its easier

I’m by no means an expert, just the hood has more swirls than the sides. Roof is panoramic glass so that’s not an option. Trunk lid is kinda small too so hood has plenty of space to work with.
