Did I waste time today with a LSP?

3 month old car. Had a coat of Finish Kare 1000 on it from first week.
Foamed, washed, iron decon, no tar I could see so I skipped that. Clayed with a clay mitt and Griot's regular Speed Shine (not the ceramic one). Then rinsed the car and blew it dry. Water was pretty flat, but not totally flat at this point. Then had one of many brain farts....looked at paint and it didn't really need any correction as there were no swirls, holograms, marring, nothing. Brain farts continued...I didn't use any type of panel prep. I applied some Griot's ceramic 3 in 1 as an LSP. It went on and off with no drama and 5 hours later the red Corolla paint is taking on a candy apple look.
So, what's your thoughts on whether the ceramic 3 in 1 will last? There was a bit of beading left from the FK 1000, and I applied the 3 in 1 after the Speed Shine with nothing but a rinse in between.

You’ll be fine, the Griot’s product will not be on the floor tomorrow. It may not last as long as if you had applied it to bare paint but you’ll still get protection.

Personally, I don’t clay unless I plan on polishing as I have yet to see a car get completely clayed and not show any marring. But if you’re happy with how the paint looked, you’re fine.

FK1000P might last longer than Griot’s but I bet you’ll be happy with either product. I bought a bottle of 3-in-1 to use on my wife’s car but haven’t yet, it’s just been too hot for me to wash her car and prep it for the LSP.

Stuff pretty cheap and you get a good amount. If it starts looking affected just reapply. I would add a coat every 3 months myself.

For me, time spent detailing is therapeutic so no time is "wasted". Even I do something "wrong" I am learning from it. If you ever see what you believe is absence of lsp then by all means have at it and enjoy. Mike P. says "find a product you like and use often" or in my case a bunch of products you like

    I'd consider it therapy. Enjoy.

1.) Unless the Wax Manufacturer would happen
to state otherwise…Waxes don’t need to be
applied on a squeaky clean surface. They’re not
    finicky like Coatings.

2.) Mr. Griot doesn’t say that his 3 in 1
Wax needs to be applied to squeaky clean
    surfaces.

As such: any remnants of FK1000P/Speed Shine
left on the surface will have such an infinitesimal
effect on the longevity of the 3 in 1 that it’s hardly
    worth mentioning, IMO.
