    Tree sap?

Because my wife lent out my spot in the garage to our neighbor to store some things for a month, I've had to park my car outside near trees.

Since it was polished and waxed with Collinite a month ago, I didn't worry about it. And after a full wash and inspection yesterday followed by Megs Hybrid Ceramic Detailer things looked very good and the wax was still beading like new.

But today I look at it and there are dozens of these white specks all over one side of the car and some of the windows. Most were quickly removed with detailer and a microfiber cloth. But a few were so hard to remove, I had to clay them off.

What can I do to protect my car so that I don't need to do more than wash it every couple of weeks. Normally I only prep and wax it 2x a year with bimonthly washes and occasional spot polishing. I can't afford the time to take out the sap or whatever it is every day. Do I just accept that minor etching will occur?

With a daily driver that's outside 24/7, I've resigned myself to accept it as a 5-footer, ( a car that looks great from 5 feet away).

I've had luck with using rubbing alcohol to remove stubborn sap. Followed by re-waxing those areas.

Mike posted recommendations on how to remove sap recently. I believe he suggested that you put some hand sanitizer on top of the tree sap and that you let it dwell for several minutes before you attempt to remove it. Of course, you want to apply it in the shade on cool paint.

1.) Make sure that all the sap has been
removed from the vehicle by using this:
Tree sap?-78bb3c45-9132-408b-9970-78c203a09253-jpegStoner Tarminator removes bug residue, tar, tree sap, gum and more from automotive surfaces! bug & tar remover, auto spot cleaner, car bug & tar

2.) Re-apply the Collinite to the areas
    where the sap was removed.

3.) {Since it looks like you only have to be
    inconvenienced for a month}…Get a cheap
throw-away car cover from one of your
    local auto supply stores.

What few, if any, blemishes caused from
using the car cover for ~ a month…beats
having serious paint issues caused by sap
    etchings, IMO.
