To many options, need some direction

New Volvo with darkish blue paint, older Porter Cable 7424 with 5in backing plate.
I am overwhelmed with all the information and products out there and don't really know what pad and compound/polish to start and finish with.
On slight budget so can't really afford to try a bunch of differnt combinations of pads and products.

Car has very very minor spread out swirls and hard water spot (see pictures). Should I use a one step like Sonax perfect finish or 3D one or a finish polish like Sholl S30/S40 or Nv Finesse. Should I use a LC orange pad, white pad or tangerine pad or the Rupes yellow finishing pad.
From my research is seems the pad is more important then the compound/polish. Please correct me if I am misinformed.

What do you guys think? If you could maybe clear things up for me and point me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it
    Thank you in advance
Not sure why my picture isn't showing up

Re: To many options, need some direction

I used 3D HD Spees as a 1 step a little over a month ago with STUNNING results. Now you've got 3D One and my buddy Derek0609 here used that w/ a mf pad on his newish Stinger GT and it just G L O W S. He used a GG9 w/ the mf pad.

It really comes down to how much are looking for out of the paint. I'd go with the Tangerine pad and 3D one and about 4-6 section passes, wipe off and evaluate. If your happy after that, knock out the rest and apply your favorite LSP and call it a dayTo many options, need some directionTo many options, need some direction
