Thanks for the reply, I'm am happy to hear your research here on the forum was a part of your decision making process.
One thing I would add, and I do want to be fair and balanced, both Griot's and RUPES, besides making great tools, they both also offer great abrasive technology and quality buffing pads.
I type about a LOT of things on this forum and also share in our videos but the one key thing I stress is how important the abrasive technology is when it comes to polishing paint. The best tool and all the technique in the world won't make subpar abrasive technology make paint look good. In fact - just the opposite.
Griot's BOSS creams are top shelf. They work great on all paint system and have all the cool features that we all look for in our compounds and polishes,
- Great abrasive technology - no micro-marring of the paint.
- Long working time or buffing cycle.
- Easy wipe-off.
- Zero dusting.
- Excellent defect removal.
- Versatile - work with either foam or microfiber pads.
Just wanted to include this in the equation of choosing a tool.
I feature both Griot's and RUPES in my car detailing classes and let everyone make up their own mind which is best for them and their needs and style of detailing.
I only show the best and I only show tools, pads and products I would use on my own cars.
Hope that helps...

And for everyone that will read this thread into the future...
Here's a recent video we made with Rod Kraft at Griot's Garage. Rod goes over all the Griot's tools PLUS the abrasive technology used in the BOSS Creams.
The discussion on abrasive technology starts at the 32:00 minute time stamp

Re: HELP ME MAKE UP MY MIND
Have my hands on both tools during Mike's three day class, I'd buy the Griot's all day long over the Rupes. There's nothing wrong with Rupes, but bang for the buck in my personal opinion, the Griot's is a better tool after having used both.

I feel you. I am only 5'6" and in my mid 50's. I did one of these a few years back. It almost killed me. Haven't done one since. LOL
Whats worst was that I did it as a favor to a friend.

Another video I need to check out. I'll do so during my work breaks. Starting at the 32 min mark, just cuz. I'm already using BOSS Creams, and they're good.
I enjoy listening to these guys talk about their products. Most so, Mr Tunch!!! LOVE that guy. I bought 3d Ceramic Coating after watching that video you guys did. (well, not right away, but still).
that was off topic.
Back to topic: BOTH tools are great. I owned a Rupes 21 MK2 and a BOSS G15. Both are great tools, by great companies. Eventually sold off the 21 as I wasn't using it much.

Not this guy either!! I have two of the 3401s. I'm like you. I'd rather focus on the paint and how it's doing, rather than pad stall. I do still own most of my machines, quite a collection, if only to change it up a bit every now and then when I can afford to do so.
After trying a cordless DeWalt, my next purchase will be the C-BEAST!!! Cordless is such a nice thing ! !

Re: HELP ME MAKE UP MY MIND
My 2 cents.
The first generation G15 which i own is very solid and i really enjoy using it - you have to learn the tool though, it will stall easy. Its like a dance lol
The 2nd generation G8 which i also own is not the same build quality but has a very powerful motor.
