My wheels are scratched, help
According to Dodge these are aluminum high gloss.
The only tools I have are a 3 inch polisher and GG complete polish, some pads.
Should I pay someone, or attempt myself?

Looks like PVD (chrome or black chrome look a likes). I have two sets for snow tires and they scratch like that and do not come out.

I’m guessing black and clear coat, should polish fine. With intricate design, polishing by hand (or finger in this case) might be easier.
But being gloss black it will be all scratched again in just a few months.

Yep. Designers should be flogged for their overuse of this finish, and not just in the auto industry.

Wow, that’s unacceptable from manufacturers

Mine were factory clear coated on my R/T, responds to polishing. The issue is to find an effective wash process to keep marring to a minimum, the more you rub the more it’s gonna mar. My R/T was my first black wheel experience and it’ll be my last

Re: My wheels are scratched, help
Have the wheels stripped, polished, and then clear-coated. You could even try to do the first two steps yourself. Make sure to use something like "Aircraft Paint Remover" to strip the finish as it does not harm aluminum and is far less toxic.
If your vehicle is maroon, "natural" aluminum wheels would look better than black wheels anyway, IMHO.

Re: My wheels are scratched, help
The wheels themselves are made of aluminum, the top finish layer, as has already been explained, is not aluminum but clearcoated and it would be worth starting off by hand with a microfiber applicator.

I feel the same, last black wheel product ever.
