2010 Honda Pilot with clear coat issues?
So, this truck belongs to a member of our family. I actually picked it up from dealer, it was clean no issues. Then out of a sudden it has this clear coat issue front right tire panel. She has no “idea” what happened to it.
I tried washing it nothing
Clay bar nothing
Water spot remover nothing
Iron remover nothing
Wax nope
It’s not over clear coat, it’s actually through it? I have not tried machine polishing it, would it work? I’m dumbfounded lol

Looks like a bird dropping that etched the paint. I think polishing would work and remove it. Least aggressive to most aggressive and check how much clear coat is on the vehicle, if you can.

@DETAILROOKIE I figured it was that, but I was not sure. Honestly I don’t have a paint thickness gauge. Being a Honda, you all think I should be ok to try to polish, I have a 3” polisher with Griot Garage complete polish

I would try with an aggressive foam pad and an aggressive leveling fluid. If that doesn't work, leave it be.

Very lightly go over it with a heat gun. Don't "burn" the paint of course, but warm it up a bit. On low, very slowly and carefully. Don't press on it or touch it, but do stop for a few seconds and take care not to over heat the panel. You just let the heat warm it up a bit, then cool a bit, repeat, etc. and it should begin to fade. I've done it a few times and it works perfectly.

Tim, would a hair dryer work or a heat gun work? I don’t have a heat gun, I know there cheap but just wondering

probably wouldn't work well. Heat guns are pretty cheap.

If it still remains i would try going over it with 3000 grit and buff it, sometimes can be less aggressive then
trying to compounding it really hard. Sometimes they get so etched in there you have to sand level.
