    Re: Help with Duragloss sealants: 111, 105, 501 w/601 - Differences?

I suffer from paralysis by analysis and I’ll sit around thinking about which products to use, what’s the weather gonna be like today, how much free time do I have and the list goes on. By the time I come up with a plan, I’m not using anything, I’ve lost the best weather of the day and I’m out of free time. That’s all I mean by generally overthinking things, definitely not calling anybody out in particular!

I have used both 501/601 and sealed with 111/601 and the combo of products got me through a Chicago winter with little maintenance to boot! They are very easy to use and being one of the first times I ever detailed my vehicle to that level, I’ll always remember them and recommend them.

Its a white truck, Im trying to get away from being so anal about swirls etc. The paint now days is THIN, so I dont really wanna correct the swirls etc if its not THAT bad. So with that being said, I was going to clay using Griots synthetic clay puck, maybe use a paint cleaner ( chemical based ) and then use this 601+111. Ok so here is where Im confused -

If 111 is pure sealant, then it should be the most stout, right? This then leads me into where 105 has me a bit confused.

If they're using a chemical cleaner in the sealant such as 105 , then there has to be some sacrifice in the longevity of that sealant no?

    1) Because there has to be less sealant in the mix/bottle as the cleaner is taking up some space/volume in the mix ...
    2) Wouldnt the cleaner hinder some of the life of the sealant since its well... cleaning the paint the same time as its trying to lay down protection?

Seems its smarter to hit the paint with something like PBs Professional Polish non-abrasive cleaner ( I have this already ) and then hit it again with the 111+601 as the SOLE sealant and no cleaners introduced at the protection step.. Would be great to save a step and use 105+601 though...

    Make sense?
Sounds like that, after Claying, you’re looking
for something to clean the paint—something
that has very little to no “cut“.

    •If that is the case:
-Then go with the 105/601 combo (@4:1 ratio).

    For what it’s worth:
•Since the 105/601 combo, itself, renders a very
    long-lasting and shiny finish...you don’t even have
to bother topping it with the 111/601 combo.

•You were wanting to save ClearCoat
    [and some steps]:
    -Well...There you go!

Sparky, an AGO member, used to do all Duragloss product details. They were impressive plus great bang for the buck. I’m also a fan. Id give my mother in laws white Toyota with pearl metallic DG105 with follow ups of aqua wax at washes. The metallic would pop.
