Wax over Ceramic Coating?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
But I see a few guys here and there in a few car groups that I'm in and they say for example they put a layer of ceramic coating then put another q or 2 layers of wax or sealant & they go on to say its so good & its the best combo etc.
From what I have read and learned from this forum that putting a wax or sealant on top of a ceramic coating is wrong because it will cover up the benefits of a coating such as dirt repellency, hydrophobic benefits etc & you will be left with the normal wax behaviors which to me is just a waste of money.
Why spend the extra cost on a ceramic coating and go to all that work to just cover it with a wax or sealant? If I'm right I'm going to end up pointing a lot of people to this post so they dont think I'm just making things up lol.
Thanks

Yep, not a good idea, enjoy the benefits and performance of a coating instead of covering it with inferior products.

I'll opine that a "Last Step Product" should be just that

Yes, if a coating suitable wax...it's fun.

Point to this post, you did a good job describing the drawbacks and we here agree. I’d be curious what their opinion of the benefits are? Looks? Extra protection? I bet they could get those same results by skipping the coding and going right for their look or protection of choice. No need to bury the coating.

For me, totally about the looks and the entertainment. Base coatings provide the foundation/protection, hybrid waxes just provide a subtle shift in appearance without sacrificing any outward performance you get from a coating and are just plain fun to use on occasion.
