    What about seat shampooing

Do any of you pro detailers bother with deep shampooing? (rug doctor etc.) Do you just do light shampooing (aerosol can)? Any tips would be much appreciated

    Re: What about seat shampooing

I use a Chief Steamer, or a Mytee Extractor

    Re: What about seat shampooing

I use and teach using tools like rotary buffers and orbital polishers to machine scrub upholstery and then extract using a hot water extractor.

I don't like doing interior work but if I have to - I can do it.

One thing to think about when working on any type of upholstery, especially seats, the MORE LIQUID you introduce the more liquid via GRAVITY is going to penetrate INTO the seat.

When I say INTO THE SEAT - by this I mean, past the surface fabric and INTO THE FOAM and the farther the liquid goes the more difficult it is for ANY brand of extractor to suck it upward.

    Make sense?

And here's the deal, sometimes all you can do is all you can do. So if you spill coffee on the driver's seat or you cat or dog urinates on the driver's seat,

All you can do is all you can do

If all you can do is use an extractor than do it.

If you can replace the seat, or take it to an upholstery shop and pay them to take it apart and replace the foam, then do this.

There is no simple, easy of fast remedy for difficult cleaning projects like this. We all wish there was a simple way to pull liquids that have penetrated deep into foam an easy way but there's not.

Also - I love steam machines but if you think about it, they are mostly good for TOPICAL cleaning. Extractors because then INJECT and then EXTRACT are better at cleaning BELOW the surface.
