Re: PH balanced vs PH neutral

pH neutral and pH balanced are the same things. It depends on what marketing firm is making the claim. A perfect pH balance is 7 on the pH scale and that would be pure water. Tap water can have a pH range of 6 to 8.5. Hard water is very alkaline and higher on the pH scale. Soft water is acidic and can have a lot of metal ions like lead, zinc and manganese. Hard water can cause problems when washing a vehicle for it makes it difficult to create suds, it doesn't rinse cleanly and it can leave water spots. It can also be harmful to the LSP if mixed with a high pH soap.

IMO there’s no such thing as overkill... lol.

I use 14 mitts for bucket washing, and it’s not enough more often than you’d think.
For example, I washed my brothers full size truck this past weekend, and it was full on dirty + it’s black so of course you want to be extra careful because of that, and 14 mitts was nowhere near enough to wash without having to stop and rinse my mitts before completion. Man it bugs me when that happens but I can’t fit any more mitts inside the bucket. Lol.

In a perfect world I’d do bucket washes with 20 mitts in a bucket. I don’t really consider myself to be overly paranoid about instilling swirls, I’d say it’s more about having OCD in regards to proper wash technique.

...Oh wait, I thought you said “that’s overkill”

It’s nice to see we both generally agree that there’s no overkill when it comes to this stuff.PH balanced vs PH neutral

14 mitts is A-OK with me! Although I simply don’t need *that* many only due to the size of the vehicles I wash. As long as your technique is working for you, keep it up!

Focusing on the realm of Detailing:

    •pH balanced:
-where the pH levels of chemical solutions
    have been adjusted (by Chemists/formulators)
to meet whatever the different pH criteria of
    the manufacturer/reseller may be
    :

{The manufacturer/reseller may want the end
    product to wind up being acidic-ly balanced;
    basic-ly balanced; neutral-ly balanced; or
    somewhere in between on the pH scale.}

This pH adjustment can be accomplished
by many ways and means. (I suppose that
is why Chemists get paid the “big bucks”.)

    *************************************

    pH neutral:
-where the pH levels of chemical solutions
have been specifically adjusted (in order
    to meet the manufacturers’/resellers’ request
for an end product) to wind up being at the
neutral point on the pH scale.

    ****************************************

    OK...
•Now’s when the marketing moguls’ take
their turn at selling the pH nomenclature.

    *************************************

Whaddya think: Clear as mud now?

I think you’re better off using your foam cannon the way I described with a foam gun and ditching the buckets all together

Re: PH balanced vs PH neutral

Ph balanced is different than neutral.

Ph neutral means a ph of 7.

Ph balanced is a fancy marketing term but a balanced product can be acidic or alkaline

If it says “balanced” on the bottle it definitely isn’t neutral.

What if it’s been “balanced” to be pH neutral?

Then the manufacturer would state ph neutral.
