IR Lamp curing time for coatings
Hi guys,
I just recently bought a Infratech IR Lamp from someone downsizing. My question for the guys/girls that use IR lamp to cure coatings is how long do you use the lamp for? I’ve heard anywhere from 10-30 minutes.
I use CQuartz UK 3.0 for coating cars since I live in MN. It’ll be my first time using a IR lamp for curing. I’ve only ever used an IR lamp for vinyl wrap. I bought the lamp to help me free up more time to do more details/coatings instead of having it sit in my garage curing for hours. Every Detailer knows that time is money and if I can save a substantial amount of time curing coatings that’ll help me bring in more customers and make $$$.
Thanks!

For me it’s very weather dependent on how long I let my lamps sit. On the average though, about 10-15 minutes per section. A little longer if it’s cold out.

We have a quad lamp in the shop so only a few minutes per panel.

Thanks guys for the input. Will be putting the first coating and using the IR lamp this weekend. Can’t wait to see how it turns out time wise

It’s not the time, it’s what temp the surface gets to. Call carpro and ask them.
