    Follow up 3D ONE video.

So I'm in the middle of another correction job and figured I'd do a follow up as I saw a bunch of comments about wipe off difficulties.

Sorry for the audio as it was raining out and really loud.

Also here's a picture showing the amount I use for a section.

BOSS G21, B/S uro wool, speed 4-4.5. Moderate pressure.

You are using in the same way I did except for the following: 1) I work outside 90% of the time. Usually in the sun. 2) I don't use wool pads, for 3D One I usually use a Lake Country HDO (either blue or orange) pad on almost the same machine you do: Griot's Boss G15. 3) I work half a panel at a time unless the pannel is huge, in this case I break it in either 3 or 4 sections. 4) For product quantity, I use 4 quarter size drops to prime the pad, then 2 pea size drops per section. I clean the pad after every panel.

My experience with wipeoff, has been nothing like yours. So either the product really hates the sun, which would be weird that oils would not come off the panel because of that, or something else is making the product unwipable. Maybe it doesn't like water? I clean my pads using water then dry them with rotation at speed 6. I use 2 to 3 pads per vehicle, I can't remember if the product did it when the pads was completelly dry or not, I would expect it did because I don't remember the issue developping during the correction. I reached out to Mark Barger who is the one who suggested the product to me, and he said it was harder to wipe than other products and suggested a 2 towel method, both dry.

The wool is nice when a bit more cut is needed. Only down side is that going straight to a finish polish can be tricky from that stage due to a bit heavier haze/marring.

    Follow up 3D ONE video.

That combo hazed the hell outta the paint. One isn’t the best finishing compound I’ve ever used, but I like that it’s non diminishing. I get the about same wipeoff as you.

So will you then follow up with a finer foam pad and do the same thing?

Re: Follow up 3D ONE video.

I tried your method using a microfiber cutting pad (Meguiars) instead of the wool pad and a Lake Country HDO Polishing pad (orange) instead of the finishing pad. It came out nice but I don't know if it was better than simply using a HDO Cutting pad (blue) for a longer time.... I would have to make a side by side comparisson on the same panel. The client was with me the whole time so I did not want to start making experiments LOL

This would probably work better when working on hard paint that the foam cutting pad would not be able to affect much.

The product I used was Meguiars Ultimate Compound. This one and D300 have been my goto One steps for a while and they give good results. D300 tends to dust easier than UC but has a bit more cut. Both finish very well with a foam cutting pad.
