Ok I just washed this small batch of towels for the 4th time in a row with NO ADDED SOAP! I go down there and look at them everytime the washing machine starts agitating the rinse and they are still sudsing up.
I used Mckees Microfiber wash on the first original wash cycle with only half the recommended amount for load size. Towels were not even very dirty and I'm doing this all on the extra large setting. I've never seen anything like it. Why won't they rinse clean?
Could it be a problem with the machine? I'm obsessed at this point I'm already very particular about my paint towels like a lot of members here. I can't just keep rinsing them though I have to move on.
Check and clean the washers drain trap. I bet it’s clogged enough to slow down the drain cycle. Then get an old bath towel and run a cycle with a cup of baking soda and 2 cups of white vinegar.
Another vote for white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser plus second rinse. I've been doing it that way for a while and never seem to have any issues with any soap residue. Very hard water here and I have used this method on both old (non-HE) and my new HE machine (normal cycle...haven't had to use the cycle that adds more water). I do use MicroRestore detergent though, so maybe I'm not comparing apples to apples if you use regular laundry detergent. I do add a few ounces of APC to my polishing towels and also when my regular towels are really dirty (like rinseless towels after washing a "clean" car only covered in dust and pollen).
