Issues with Buff and Shine Pads

No I pulled it into my garage to polish. Although temps are in the 90s now, so probably in the 80s inside with no air conditioner.

I’m using Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 but also used Meguiars Ultimate Compound. I probably used 6-7 oz combined of compound. It had severe scratches and swirls so I polished it one day, washed pads then did some other spots again the next day when my pads were dry. I probably needed a heavier cutting pad.

When I wash my pads no mater how much I try to wring all the water out it still seem to take 4 or 5 days for them to be completely dry. I'm wondering if the pads may have had some moisture still in them from washing and that contributed to heat buildup.

How long did it take u to polish 1 section. It shouldn't be more the a minute or so. Was it anything crazy like 5 minutes? More then 8 passes?

True, especially with the foam structure of those particular pads.

A lot of people cooked the closed cell foam Lake Country Hydrotech Pads because of water retention. I have to let those dry for about two to three days.

One of the many reasons I tend to favor the open cell American foam blue and green Buff and Shine pads.

True, especially with the foam structure of those particular pads.

Definitely true. I just did my spring correction on Saturday.

Just tonight did I get home to find my pads felt completely dry. (And I'm still gonna wait another day or two before they go into the storage tub.)

5 minutes and 8+ passes would almost melt a pad if you were mashing on it!

I also don't prime my pads anymore. I found they loaded up too quickly.

That’s a good point. It was the next day and a half and they felt dry on the outside but could have had moisture inside.

No it wasn’t. I basically used low speed to spread the compound, then made one pass then another to crosshatch, then one last one.

I've been using the B&S flat pads too with good luck, but I think I'm going to try out their Low-Pro pads. Thinner pads seem to be favored now. Should run cooler too.
