Blue or Green Tape
New here tired the search on tape and not much comes up
Where and why is this tape used to cover?

Re: Blue or Green Tape
What you are refering to is basic painters tape. You use it to protect emblems, mouldings, trim etc., basically anything that isn't painted. It protects these parts from the polishing process preventing staining, damage, buildup around emblems and so forth.

Either blue or green. Both are OK.
Tape is used to cover seams where polish can get trapped in cracks; to cover trim; to cover raised curved or sharp edges to prevent burn through; to cover stripes; to cover lenses; and to cover areas that can catch and damage pads. You get a feel for it. The little time that it takes sure makes polishing easier.

I've used the 3M blue tape with no problems. Some say the green tape is better but I've never used it.

I've heard good things about the green tape as well but haven't been able to find it anywhere to give it a try. Not that I've ever had a problem with the blue 3m stuff, I'm just always looking to try out new things.

The green comes off easier and leaves less residue. Your best bet to get the green tape would be at a bodyshop supply store.

Blue Painters tape for "Multi-surfaces" can leave a residue on some trim but, blue tape for "Delicate surfaces" works great and leaves no residue.

Re: Blue or Green Tape
I'm not sure if one color is more addhesive then the other..i do know the blue 3m tape comes with different grades of glue...read the label and go with something in-between..to much and you'll have a lot of resindue to remove..not enough glue and the tape will not adhere to the paint...
