Re: Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

Anyone trie this OPT and McKee’s tire coating?

Was thinking black pearl for winter but see it’s 6 months durability which is what I figure these will last.

Which one is more visibly appealing?

You mean't to say has anyone else tried the OPT tire coating, right?

Black Pearl is awesome but also kinda pricey but they have clear and black tinted versions as well as glossier and matte versions, got some from Fly07STi a while back. I'm not sure about McKee's but if its a true "coating" i.e. has that bluish/purple stuff in it, I'd say go for it. It really comes down to personal preference as far as looks go, how do you like the looks of my tires and my wifes?

Yeah I think they look good in pictures.... but pics don’t always tell full story. And sorry wasn’t clear. I meant McKee’s and OPT.

Re: Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

Ok, I got off of work "on time" today and knew I had enough to do a complete wheelwell, tire and wheel cleaning session before the wife and daughter got home, here's what I did.

Sprayed Alien Kleen in the wheelwells and let it dwell. I then sprayed Griot's Garage foaming tire cleaner and liberally sprayed the wheels with P&S Brake Buster using the IK foam Pro2 and let dwell. I then took my short brissel brush and scrubbed down the sidewall. I then grabbed the Speed Master brush to clean the spokes and barrels, rinsed down with the Worx hydroshot. While the rims were wet I sprayed them with Sonax spray and seal, let sit for about 2-3 minutes, rinsed down and dried.

This is what they look like after all that, I'm a believer without a doubt in the OPT tire coating Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

Why not just use Brake Buster for the tires?

Well ofcoarse I could do that and I have but I had the Griot's Garage foaming tire cleaner sitting there because i used it the other day, that's all, same result different product. Now that i have and really like P&S Brake Buster and it works well as a maintenance cleaner for the rims AND tires, it's just a matter of using up the other productsOptimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

Re: Optimum Tire Protection Coating (TPC)

I treated the tires with Tuf Shine coating back on New Years Eve. I haven’t cleaned the tires since except for car soap. I’m happy with the results.

I believe in treating everybody with respect, and clean cars. That’s what I believe in.

IMO as far as appearance goes
    1 Black Pearl
    2 McKee’s
    3 OPT
Also will get at least a year with Black Pearl.

The thing I didn’t like about tuff shine is it looked like acrylic on “ top” of the tire. Tire shine has a complete different look. Was worried about that with others.

I appreciate when you share as I feel your input has always spot on (please bro... share more!). Based on your and I believe Aaron NZ’s post I stocked up on MF’s and a bunch of pads before my first polish/coating. I was thinking OPT for value but F’ it. I’m gonna go with the black pearl. It’s not much more than the McKee’s.

    Question:

Is Black Pearl a product that I can continually top or do I need to remove and reapply when it needs refreshing?
