Eldorado,
Painted smooth.
When I got down to the paint, there were a few chips in the paint, but otherwise in good shape.

Page 5.
I really thought I would have seen something humorous from Cruz by now (considering the topic and OP), but nothing.

Actually, the barrels appear to be painted. Black, maybe? Dark color is all I remember.
They're Eagle wheels. Bare AL face, and painted barrels.

Eldorado2k,
I think if you spent the time to thoroughly clean them, so they look like the new ones in the photo posted earlier in this thread, they would be sooooo cooool!
Yes, it would be a considerable amount of work. But.....that's part of what sets us detailers apart from the rest. Trust me everyone would notice and compliment you on that unique and super-clean look! You could capitalize on this as you display this super-clean look to your customers and offer this "service"!!
If you do decide to do this, it would also require a commitment to frequent washings and upkeep in order to maintain that wow factor. I think it might be worth it for such a unique and super-clean look!
I would research some coating options to drastically ease the maintenance washings. Consider ceramic coatings, DIY clear coating, Professional powder coating (clear of course). A wax or sealant I think wouldn't offer much durability in that application. A ceramic coating may be a very good option here as they do maintain a slick surface and would likely allow you to simply rinse them clean. Give it some thought. Those wheels, on that Caddy would really look super nice, unique and get some considerable attention! Perhaps too much....get some wheel locks!!!

•Remove tire/wheel assemblies
from vehicle.
•While they’re removed:
-Clean (and seal) tire/wheel assemblies
-Install low-dusting brake pads.
•Reinstall tire/wheel assemblies
•Drive vehicle for ~25 miles:
-Retorque lugs; good to go...
Just a suggestion.

Re: Wheel barrels that aren’t worth cleaning?
I say use a Speedmaster/Daytona barrel brush/wheel Woolies and get them clean as clean as you can, but don’t worry about keeping them perfect. Out of sight, out of mind.
If it was a sporty wheel with exposed brake components and the barrel was easily visible, I’d say wheels off.

Yea that’s the problem, once clean they’re going to be a PITA to keep clean, because getting in and around into all areas isn’t easy, and unless you do that you’re left with little patches behind the large spokes that stay dirty.

This sounds interesting.^ I never thought of that. I’ll look into it, thanks.
