In preparation for C&C tomorrow, I vac'd out the EN's interior, sprayed DIY Detail Interior Clean and Protect and finally some 3D Wango Mango Interior scentWhat did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Now the interior is "up to par", maybe I'll pay the donation fee and have my car in this C&C as I'm a non-memberWhat did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

    Did some winter prep today.

Wife’s car got a coat of Collinite 845.
Still one of the most enjoyable processes for me.

My car got the second coast of Sonax Speed Protect. Haven’t posted in a while but that product is really underrated. It doesn’t last long and isn’t the best looking but that is not what I use it for. For about 2-3 years I have been putting a base coat of 2 layers of Speed protect at least 24 hours apart. Then top with a final wax. It was hard to tell how well it worked for scratch protection in my Volvo because that paint is hard as it is. But the real test came this year on my Toyota soft paint. I stripped the waxes to to a quick polish and I was amazed how great the paint looked. There was even a time where I hit it turning a push mower this summer. Put a huge mark on it. But to my surprise when I stripped it the Speed Protect was marked but the paint was fine. Remarkable scratch protection. It’s doesn’t create a hard surface to protect but the silicone in it makes it malleable so it gives instead of make a scratch in paint. It’s not fool proof but nothing is. I have a gallon of it and glad I do. It will be the base coat for all my cars going forward.

Now I am flipping a coin on doing a Collinite 476 or 915 for the winter. It’s a black car a sits outside all winter.

Black car benefits more from #915, used it years ago and while I gave my tub away years ago to an out of state AGer, I do remember how good it isWhat did you do today, in regards to detailing? What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I think I have a problem and it’s time to seek rehab. My lovely car is in the shop having a new front bumper put on after suffering from a tragic accident last week and I was given possession of this magnificent Corolla, compliments of Progressive insurance, that is a bit tight for a full sized adult. I decided to use it as a test vehicle to see how much correction I could get out of my Ryobi polisher with a Urofiber pad and 3D one step. After a good wash, clay and seal it was obvious that this car has more swirls than a Cinnabon shop. I polished the hood to see what difference a few passes could make and I’m quite impressed.

On the surface this car looks great but when you get up close and personal it’s a different story.

    Before the Ryobi.

After. Just for the hell of it I may go ahead and polish the rest just to keep my skills sharp and get my monthly polishing fix.

It's true and the Black Friday sales are kicking into gear now...This is not where you want to be if you're at the problem recognition stage. What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I know. I just received an email from Detailed Image about the items I left in my cart. I’m sure I’ll wake up to another one from the Clean Garage.
