What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

The wife took the truck to Walmart and it came back with a fresh dent thanks to a jackass trying to get into a parking spot, at least that is what the wife says. Lol

I decided to spoil it with a nice bath to make up for my mistake of letting the wife drive it lol. I topped it with some Overcoat. I forgot how easy it is to use and it added some nice gloss too.

So frustrating, how could they not see something that big and bright. That's the reason I usually park as far away from the building entrance as possible, the close spots are for people who are in a rush, or are lazy, so I steer clear of them for sure.

After my g/f came home from work this evening I took the EN out for a little jog to the touch-free wash tonight. It's nice to put the windows down, 70 degrees, a full moon and crank up some tunes

Now it was washed up nicely this morning, so this was the usual sap maintenance and foliage removal wash aka mental health treatment (trust me, not making fun of the actual term, been there, done that) and it does make me feel ALOT better afterwards

Tomorrow my daughter and I have a 120 mile round trip to her grandparents house so they can see her and so she can swim in the pool, so I'll be stopping at the touch-free wash tomorrow evening for a "legit" wash

The one time I chose a close parking spot at a Walmart my car got a dent in it. Never again! From now on I always make sure to park far'ish away or, like I usually do, shop anywhere else. Walmart is a last resort for me if Price Chopper, Target, Tops, Wegmans, or whichever auto parts store doesn't have what I need.

I was actually there only because I wanted to try Maguire's Ultimate Wheel Cleaner, it was in stock, and really cheap. Lesson learned.

The big tree in our front yard is doing its yearly helicopter drop. Throw in a little 'sap' and rain and you get a mess.

Washed with the usual Griots Brilliant finish and 5 microfiber towels (1 bucket method), followed by a leaf blower and towel dry. Car is now parked across the street, not under a tree.

"The usual"...more on the car than expected, can't be out and about this afternoon a mess

It's supposed to get a little cooler out, wonder if that will help

I agree!!! I always park far far away from all cars, but my wife, well, doesn't listen lol.

I'm looking for a paintless dent removal company to pop it out since I was able to remove all of the scratches. Fingers crossed I can find one soon!

My neighbor bought her first car in over 20 years so I decided to clean it up and protect it for her. Gave it a light polish with perfect finish and topped it with 845.

It is now glossy and protected for the summer.

Not always effective. I had to get a door panel replaced because I parked far away from everyone and a storm hit while I was in the store. It was windy and a cart rolled into my door. Nothing was near my car to stop it beforehand. It was over $1k in damage. I always keep an eye out for lone carts that look like they're up to no good now.

What's going on with the pictures lately?

Is this AGO trying to tell everyone to leave and find a new place... we're taking too much bandwidth?!

doing a '14 Triumph Rocket for my nephew, this is the first time i've done a free job for someone and had them come and help, i was glad for the hand, but he actually just kinda slowed me down, I enjoyed the visit though and I think he may have gotten the detailing bug

he really enjoyed the process and I had him polish his side panels, taught him the right technique, showed him how to do it first, then had him repeat the steps on the parts he was working on....we spent some time talking machines, pads, abrasives, etc

was really enjoyable introducing someone to the basics :)

While my Dad is away on vacation in Fiji for two weeks I'm going to do a full wash, decon, polish, and apply Gyeon Mohs EVO to his 2015 Merc C300 as a Father's Day surprise.

The paint is in really rough shape. Some damage left by a hack job of a body shop/detailer who repaired the front passenger front fender after a wheelbarrow hung on the wall above the car in the garage fell onto it. They left a combination of unfinished sanding, truly awful rotary polisher holograms over large sections of the car, and burn through on some edges. Likely the majority of the damage though has been caused by a rough bristle broom being used a snow brush for a couple of years until I implored him to use a Snow Joe snow broom instead. He did buy the car lightly used before I got into detailing so I have no idea what the condition of the car was when he bought it.

Tonight after work I did a thorough wash, but ran out of sunlight to go any further. Tomorrow I'll be doing the chemical decontamination and clay towel and/or clay bar if the towel isn't enough.

I have two weeks to get this done so once the washing and decontamination is done I'll be polishing a panel or two each evening. Plan is to do a one step with Buff and Shine Uro-Fiber Microfiber Pads and Scholl S20 Black. I'm not looking for perfection but to get rid of near 75% of the swirls, scratches, and holograms. At this point any improvement is going to make a massive difference in how the car looks. I also have Rupes Yellow pads and Sonax Perfect Finish and NV Finesse, but I thought I'd need something a bit stronger than either of those.

My new Harbor Freight Hercules Forced Rotation polisher will finally see some use, so I'll also be able to give my impressions of it in the thread about it. Though my only point of comparison is my Rupes Duetto.

I'm cleaning the roof of the FJ today, unlike the rest of the paint, the white roof is single stage. I'm using Carpro Essence with my Shinemate RO and their yellow diamond pads and a white foam puck for the tighter areas. It was coated with 303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating quite a while back, and that brought a darkness to the paint which the Essence is removing, also probably a layer of contamination, but it was still very glossy. You can see it in the first pic, right side done, left side is next.

The question is what to put on top to protect it, I'm partial to the Collinite 845 as that's what's on the rest of the car already, but I'm open to opinions, what I have available is in the last pic, the Dodo Juice pot on the right is Light Fantastic, it's a soft wax. The Iron Gloss I doubt I'd use, I don't want to put something dark on it again.
