Ha. I lived in Nome and Fairbanks for 3 years each for middle school and high school respectively. So you get, what 4 months out of the year to detail your vehicle in Alaska? Though it is a longer 4 months as I waxed my truck at 1 am thanks to the 20+ hours of daylight in the summer. But now you'll get a solid 12 months of amazing weather to detail your vehicle whenever you want.

Yeah, I had a heated 2 car garage….

Until the moving van showed up

Then I had a heated 2 car storage unit

For 18 years

Cars lived outside 24/7/365

The touchless wash was my friend in the winter

Here both the Taco and the Lexus have their own place in the garage

The driveway is gravel but I am having a slab poured under the deck next to the garage so I have a wash bay

Kicking up gravel with a fumbled pressure washer moment is hard on paint

Interesting notes regarding Brake Buster.

I generally don't use wheel cleaners on my own cars, I just don't get them dirty enough to need anything other than soap. I do use Brake Buster as a tire cleaner and on customer cars.

I know it's accepted wisdom to use a foam sprayer with Brake Buster but I just use the supplier sprayer bottle, at full strength.

I will just refill my spray bottle with full strength and give that a go

My wheels are fine with just car soap as well now that I know they aren't contaminated and they have a sealant on them

I guess if it cleans tires at full strength it is still a relatively inexpensive product

I just bought into the "5:1, 10:1" hype and was surprised

N914 RW and Griot's ceramic speed shine on both cars. Also DG253 on the tires after I removed a spider that decided to make one wheel its home after cleaning them last night. Wasn't sure how 253 would work on a spider

Yesterday morning I washed the SS. I had great weather, low 60’s, cloudy and little wind. I used a competitor’s graphene detail spray as a drying aid. BFM! It left spots and streaks all over the paint. I tried going over the spots and streaks with that graphene detail spray, no effect with out adding pressure. Fast forward to this sunny Sunday morning and what do I see as we walk back to the SS after church? Yup, you guessed it, marring from the wiping.

After lunch (Maxwell Street Polish on the grill) out to the garage I went. ONR wipe down followed by clay barring then a light polish removed all of the marring and probably did a number on the paint coating. Down to the basement to look over my options… OptiSeal it is. I forgot how easy this stuff is to use! It will have to do until I order a paint coating.

I’d post pics but you all know what my SS looks like. Plus the forum, forum app and Tapatalk will still not upload my pics. I get “upload of file failed” from Autogeek forum and app. Tapatalk warns me “one or more of the images selected were failed to upload” (sic). Different devices, same issue.

Said graphene detail spray is now in the bin, per MCM Marty’s instruction.
