Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?
Meanwhile, the daily did actually need a wash. The Ranger was sporting plenty of bug splatter on the front bumper and windscreen after some road tripping.
Re: What did you do today, in regards to detailing?
So we had some rain yesterday and it sat in the majority of it but the roads WERE wet when I left, so technically it was dirty...I say "technically" because the only spots on the car were ontop of the front fenders and directly behind the rear wheels on the side of the rear bumper. IMO had I driven in the rain and had gotten home I feel it may have dried clean, that "coating light" I applied from the guy who shares his name with a paper towel company and resides in the state where "everything is bigger" has REALLY impressed me with its self-cleaning ability as well as its "Jolly Rancher candy" looks, looking forward to the future "tests". Anywho, onto tonights wash details.
It's the basic wash here tonight, Alien Kleen in the wells, finished up the Griot's Garage foaming tire cleaner on the fronts, ran out and then grabbed the 303 Tire and Rubber cleaner for the rears, left to dwell and then foamed with P&S Brake Buster, dwelled and scrubbed the tires and wheels down and rinsed, dried off. Since the car wasn't too dirty I used N914 in my trusty Blackfire hand pump (best $17.00...less 25% off I've spent) and did a WW using my orange Eagle edgeless towels to clean the car. Used real damp ones to wipe down the door and trunk jams, damp mf tire from drying the tires/wheels for the engine bay, then I was done.
Btw I did notice one high spot in the middle of the roof between the windshield and sunroof, probably didn't reach there good enough and it sat there and didn't come off with the wash the other day, no problem. I grabbed some Alien Kleen and sprayed into one of the Eagle edgeless towels and rubbed the area. I then sprayed some Collinite QD into a different used Eagle edgeless and wiped down, buffed with the Sucker Jr and its all gone, very user friendly! I'm going to re-apply in that area tomorrow....time for bed, it's almost 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. comes around pretty quick

Well it didn't come off with 2 washes but the Alien Kleen took it down. It was a spot I didn't level out at all, I simply missed it. This is a 1 year coating that's easy to apply, so that's the trade off with these "light" coatings but that's ok, a 2nd coat done 3 hrs later bumps it up to 18-24 months but you know as well as I do that NONE of us would ever go the better part of 2 yrs on a $40.00, 4 ounce bottle of a "light" coating

Today I was reading a thread in another forum about tire dressing. The consensus there was that the best tire dressing, especially for big off-road tires, is... Pledge. Zoiks.
