Finally found time to work on my company van today.
Purchased it last month and the paint was in horrible condition. Tons of scratches, paint chips, etc.
So this morning I decided to take the day to correct most of the issues. It's a Dodge Grand Caravan so it's too big to fix completelly in one day. So I did a quick wash, Iron Deconned it, clayed it and degreased it. This revealed how bad the paint was. I am pretty sure the used car dealer I purchased it from slapped a ton of glaze on it cause the paint looked twice as bad after claying
So I wet sanded most of the biggest scratches, only spending a few minutes on each. If it did not remove it, too bad, move on. Must have sanded at least 50 of them.
Then I did a quick compound on all the sanded areas and finished with a quick compound of the rest of the pannel as well (on each pannel).
Degreased the paint again, then cleaned with solvents in preparation for the coating.
Put Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light over the paint, wheels, trims, headlights, backlights.
I then coated the windows and windshield with McKee's 37 Glass Coating.
Finished with coating the tires with Optimum Tire Coating after cleaning them with mineral spirit.
So I am happy with the results, far from perfect, I would guess an extra 10 hours of work would have been needed to get it there, but I would say it went from 4/10 to 7.5/10. Since it's my work vehicle, I know it will get beaten up so perfection is not important to me. Just wanted it to look good from a few feet away
Pictures coming soon
