Re: Flex xc3401vrg bail handle loose.
I have over 20 of these in the AGO garage for our detailing classes. A part of having a lot of them is doing routine checks on the hex head bolts that hold the bail handle tight as well as hold the backing plate tight.
From experience, it's vitally important that you don't cross thread the bolts into the tool head when re-installing them. If you do this, you're screwed.... no pun intended.
The head of the tool is tapered, getting thinner towards the end of the head of the tool. This means the bolts thread in at an angle. If you don't have them correctly aligned when threading the bolts in it is very easy to cross-thread the bolt and because the head of the tool is aluminum you'll damage the threads and create a new project for yourself that you don't want.
Hang tight, I'll take some pictures...

For anyone that owns a FLEX 3401 - click the link below and look at the pictures and keep the information shared via the pictures in mind anytime you remove and re-install the bolts that hold the handle onto the FLEX 3401

Re: Flex xc3401vrg bail handle loose.
I seen the post Mike Phillip's did, the screws go in in a kind of a slant, i sure did not know that, but Andre from autogeek took a look at the pics i sent him, Autogeek sent me a return label to copy, so that they can take a look at it. To bad that post by Mike Phillip's wasn't posted earlier.

Re: Flex xc3401vrg bail handle loose.
yup..still your original issue that the unit shipped with screws not seated fully but according to how hard it was to remove..sounds like they were fully tightened....
best to send back to ag and have them take a look...
could be that the oem used bolts that were too long..
im sure ag will figure it out...
good luck

Re: Flex xc3401vrg bail handle loose.
I had a similar problem with my XC3401, my bail would NOT tighten enough.
I emailed FLEX and their reply was "What do you expect us to do?" "Give you a new one?"
Needless to say, I have NOT purchased any more FLEX products!
