Cleaning and Polishing Camry exhaust tips?

When I did mine recently I tried one tip with the included applicator and the other with 0000 steel wool as the applicator and didn't notice much, if any difference.

I got a tube of Simichrome today, Can it be used on wheels also?

So I have used the Simichrome on all my fake chrome (Chrome film applied to plastic trim) exterior trim and the exhaust pipes and it really set it off. I haven't done anything with the wheels though.
