If I spray and wipe the hood with detail spray (Chemical Guys Synthetic Quick Detailer) I will get trailing streaks from the spots.

    Re: Small specks in paint?

The reason I ask is because it seems localized to one area which makes me wonder if something splattered on the hood and ate into the clear.

^That my thought after seeing the pics. Possibly some lovey chemical that someone accidentally spattered onto the hood.

That, or maybe bug droppings/secretions but then it probably would not be so localized.?

Maybe try rubbing it a little more with the AIO to see if it pulls anymore out.

    Small specks in paint?

It looks alot like the specs I was dealing with on that black Denali. It was terrifying at 1st glance because it looked like clearcoat failure.

In my case they began to go away with the claybar, and fully went away with a dedicated polish and just a finishing pad.

My 1st thought is maybe the AIO didn’t play well with the sealant [Ultimate Paste Wax]

Or maybe the AIO itself finished off poorly.

It looks a lot like your pic Eldorado2K,

but the specks appear white in the picture but actually don't seem to have any color to them in person. they are quite clear-ish.

The ones in my pic appeared like tiny bubbling like the way it looks when the clearcoat is starting to fail. I’m glad I remained calm and didn’t panic, because that was a brand new 2018 Denali! Lol.

When did you notice them? When you were all done? If so it’s too bad otherwise you may have been able to pinpoint when they became visable.

    Re: Small specks in paint?

Could it be that when you did the AIO step some residue got splattered to the already AIO polished area? Then it dried there and sealed in with the wax step. Try to QD wipe a small test spot or a waterless wash product and see if it's gets off. A panel wipe product could solve it if it's not coming off. But would need to be waxed again if you do. Otherwise a finishing polish on a finishing pad and see what that will do and if the spots remains I think it's a paint problem.

What exactly where the compound and pad combo used on the first step?
And how many passes per sections did you do?
How was the defects when you started?

    Re: Small specks in paint?

I never noticed them until i was finished, but the hood was in pretty bad shape when I started, there was stuff all over this thing.

    As for as products
It was what ever drive thru car wash my wife took it to.
Meguiars off the shelf clay bar with CG synthetic detail spray as lube ( it seemed to work better than the Meguiars quick detail that came with the kit.
    Griots complete compound
    Griots one step sealent
    Meguiars ultimate paste wax
    Chemical guys Synthetic detail spray.

I ordered the aggressive Meguiars clay bar to give that a shot. Just waiting for that to come in.

I'm going to check my other black car to see if there are similar spots/specks on it. It has never been properly detailed before that i know of.

    Re: Small specks in paint?

I had something similar happen to me when applying WGDGPS 3.0. At some point during my first of 2 coats I managed to get some splatter from the DA which I failed to spot during buffing. I proceeded to apply the second coat, also without noticing. It was only during the buffing of the 2nd coat that I noticed yellow specks, which at this point had been effectively "sealed" under the second coat. I just clayed them out and resealed and all was right with the world again.
