    air compressor for mobile unit

Putting together a mobile unit and plan to use a Tornador Black for interior cleaning. I would like to know what the forum thinks a good air compressor for a mobile unit is to power this tool. looking for small in size but big time power.

Re: air compressor for mobile unit

I have a shop but take on some mobile work and have been looking for a good compressor for using my tornador and blowing out polishing pads.

This Ridgid 4.5 gallon compressor puts out 5.1 SCFM @ 90psi which is seriously impressive. Plus it's not as loud as other compressors around that size and price range.

You should buy it and let us know how it works with the tornador.lol

It also has a 3 year warranty.

Re: air compressor for mobile unit

I have something similar with a 5 gallon tank. I purchased mine in the hope of using it to paint a car I had at the time. I quickly found out these things are not very good to drive tools. Not enough reserve and air production for painting. Could onlly drive a DA sander for about 20 seconds and ran into the same problem with my Impact Air Gun. I purchased a 10 gallon air tank to add to the loop but it did not help much. If you only want to use it for cleaning pads, I am sure it would work well. Tornadors I am not sure about. Depends how much air they use.

I use the Kobalt 30 gal upright.

    404 File Not Found - Lowe's

It worksn with the Tornador, its not too heavy, can be rolled. I strap it to the walls of the detail trailer and use two 30' hoses. You will need to add a filter to the line. Water condensate, rust particles and oil will come out of the compressor without a filter.

You will have to wait a few seconds for the tank to fill back up if you use the Tornador continuously.

I have this one, 4.2@90PSI. I like it because it is oiled (not oil-less), cast iron cylinder, low RPM and relatively quiet compared to oil-less compressors.
