Essensse as a primer
Hello folks. I wonder how many of you pro’s are using essense as a primer? Do you do a wipe down right after polishing or just put the coating on the top right away? Or perhaps wait a few hours to let the oils evaporate?
I had a weird experience with it. Polished the hood of my pilot and put CQUK within an hour or so without eraser wipedown. So month later I get to do the whole car (compound/polish), figured i’ll give it a wash before coating and when i hit the hood i’ve noticed very little to now beading or water sheeting. I mean, bare polished paint was beading better. So my question is what exactly did i do wrong? I think i followed to the t directions on the bottle but it looks like CQUK didn’t bond at all...any ideas good Sirs?

Hi, first thing , its called Essence , not Essense
once you finished polishing with Essence wait 1 hour before coating with CQUK, will be good to do Eraser pre coat to release any residues left.
if you polished the car after a month you most likely removed the coating, so you cant expect to see beading from it, the beading you see from the polish compound is the solvents oil left from the compound on the surface..

I haven’t touched the hood with the polisher once it was coated. What i was trying to explain is that the coating didn’t bond to the surface primed with essenCe

Re: Essensse as a primer
Correct me if I’m wrong, but you can polish the car with essence let it cure for 24 hours then go right to coating without a wipe down of eraser?

Carpro says you can coat it right away. Directions on the bottle do not say you need to wait x amount of time before coating

Re: Essensse as a primer
Perhaps there was still too many polishing oils left over that UK did not bond properly. The other possibility is road grime.
I wipedown essence with Eraser even if I let it sit overnight just to be sure.

Road grime is off the table as the surface has been washed.
I agree on the oils left but then why would they release a product that should act as a primer and promote no need in eraser stage that doesn’t actually work that way? Initially i was going to use essence for the whole and if i would do that what waste of time and product would that be??

Re: Essensse as a primer
Here is some information pulled straight from CarPro.
2 - Do I have to use Eraser between Essence and CQuartz?
If your using Essence by machine and you wait until the vehicle is finished then you can apply Reload or CQuartz after you finish the vehicle starting in the same direction you polished. If you want to be ultra safe you can still Eraser but in our testings to date we have not seen any failure when we skipped Eraser.
If your using Essence by hand then we recommend you use Eraser before coating.
