Best wax for metallic black cars ?
Both autos in my garage are new VW's in Pearl black. Wondering whats the best wax for black paint ? I keep on top of my auto's, claying, and doing a complete paint correction (compound and polish when new cos they had dealer installed swirls). From there washing weekly and waxing between 1-3months.
I also have an MT300 DA. But in all honesty for waxing, i'm just as happy to hand apply.
Normally i use Collnite 845 or Megs Ultimate as my wax, but they seem to leave a little more residue than what i like on the black paint. Not immediately apparent but after i can start to notice smear marks.

Re: Best wax for metallic black cars ?
Oh Boy! Let the opinions come in! I will give you the waxes I LIKE to use and my ride is a Black car. So here are the few that I have narrowed down and ALL are great. BTW, these are ALL My favorites and will use any of these without a preference. So ALL are Number 1 in my opinion.
1. Polish Angel Famous and Polish Angel Centurion
2. Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax
3. Vics Red
4. SON1C Phoenix
5. Blackfire Midnight Sun Paste wax
6. Menzerna Color Lock
7. Pinnacle Souveran Liquid Wax
8. Poor Boy's Red and Blue
I think that's about it. I ran out of my ABSOLUTE Favorite and is discontinued. That was Polish Angel Diamond Jubilee Paste Wax. I have the Polish Angel Famous on my ride (ran out of Centurion) right now. Before that was Pinnacle Souveran Paste wax (2nd jar).
But IMO you can't go wrong with a great wax. Additionally, IMO nothing can beat a great wax on a Black Car. Again, this is my opinion and of course this is SUBJECTIVE.
I hope this helped.

One of my favorites on my black pearl VW is 845. What do you mean by it leaves more "residue"? You might be applying it too thickly and that results in smearing you see later. 845 has to be applied VERY thin. I found applying it with a DA polisher to be the best way to get a very thin even layer over the entire car.

i guess it seems to streak some... maybe its cos i'm in a hot climate... i do go very thin, but am hesitant to use a DA, cos worried i'll get it on plastics and what not... so use a synthetic rubber friendly wax/sealent on the pillars and near the sunroof and other areas that can get close to any exposed rubber / plastic areas and collnite on the large body panels

It's a toss-up between Fuzion paste wax and Souveran. The Fuzion will bring out the metallic flake, but Souveran has more depth.

OP, put down the #845 and get yourself some #915...thin is in and you can thank me later, trust me!!
Please keep in mind ofcoarse that prep is key and I have to tell you that when I prepped my car for coating last spring, also metallic black, that Optimum hyper polish blew me away...PREP IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!

•IMO:
-Metallics need Sealants!
-Below are a couple that not only figure very
prominently in the hierarchy-of-needs...but
will also fulfill the actualization of said need:
