Old carnuba paste... should I use it?
I just found an 7ish year old container of CG Pete's 53 paste wax. It looks a little crusty, but not terrible. You guys think it's ok to use?
It has NOT been kept in anything like a climate controlled location.
Thx.

try rubbing it with a foam applicator a few times and see if it smooths out and also make sure it doesn't smell foul, otherwise you should be fine to use it. i have some paste waxes that are over 10+ years old that are perfectly fine...

Should be OK but I agree about smelling foul. There are organic compounds in there that could degrade but if it looks OK once you warm it up a little on a pad then I would say, go for it.

•Since there would had to have been
an adequate amount of reasoning as
to why I didn’t use this (or any other
particular LSP) for ~7 years...
-The inescapable fact is, that:
I wouldn’t even consider using it now!
•Of course: YMMV.

Ha. Smells fine, but good point on why I didn't use it. I didn't use it because I like liquid sealants better, and currently using WDGPS. I was thinking about putting a little carnuba on top... cuz I'm addicted to putting stuff on my car. Likely not necessary tho. I'll proly just go with another coat of Wolfgang.

I asked that question to Chemical Guys recently. They said if there is mold, toss it. otherwise should be fine.

10 yrs? Hell, I have a can of pure carnuba that is 30+ yrs old and have used it from time to time on various vehicles over the years and would still do so. Only reason I don’t is that the products today are just so much easier to work with.

if you don't find yourself using it anytime soon or at all, put it the samples thread...
