Ziebart Diamond Coat
Long time, no type. I have missed this community. Long story, but, life has kept me out of the garage and off the forums.
The short version: How do I remove Ziebart Diamond Coat?
The Back Story: I just bought a new 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali in black. Love the dealership. Have bought many cars there over the years, but, since my last purchase, they take all the cars on the lot to Ziebart and have them apply the Premium package and try to sell you the service. I understand. I never buy those. No big deal. Until now.
It looked good when I picked it up. Cloudy day. Then it rained later that day. So, I pulled it in the garage for a waterless wash. After cleaning it, I noticed MULTIPLE water spot that I couldn't get out. The idiots applied the coating over the poorly prepped surface. Including water spots and a few areas of dirt. I need to remove the coating and the water spots. I would much rather do the work myself than having them or the dealer.
So, to the question: How? I assume polish? I own multiple polishers and polishes. PC 7424, GG 6inch, GG BOSS 15, Flex 3401. Also own multiple pads and polishes from Megs DA MF system to M105/205 to BOSS. I understand least aggressive, test spot....
I guess what I want here is, how hard is the coating and how aggressively does it have to be removed as your experience has taught you? Just trying to prepare myself for the task at hand.
Thanks guys. Glad to be back on here.

Re: Ziebart Diamond Coat
I recently removed Exo & Csl using a white pad with m205 and my flex 3401. It took about 6 sectional passes until I felt the coating was removed.

Thank you for that. It sounds like I wont have to go real aggressive. White pad and M205 sounds very do-able. I suppose I will know when I am able to remove the water spots.

CSL/EXO is probably a lot harder than the Ziebart. You've got to be from the north, I haven't heard the Ziebart name since I left Michigan.

Curious who makes the Ziebart coating? I bet its very similar to Carpro’s UK version, since Ziebart is located in the upper cold climates.

Re: Ziebart Diamond Coat
Pre AG days I had a 2008 Black Ford FX4 truck that a friend convinced me to have Diamond Coated. The deal was you had to bring it back every year for $100 to get "touched up". It did not seem very durable and I had swirls almost immediately but like I said this was before I became a student here.

Nothing a dealership puts on except for ppf will survive a finishing polish and a white pad.

Re: Ziebart Diamond Coat
But it is supposed to be hard as clear coat and provide your car with swirl free finish, blah, blah, blah. What a sham. I wouldn't care so much had they not applied over a poorly prepped vehicle. Oh well, Now I have an excuse to spend the next nice weekend in the garage with my collection of polishers that don't get much use any more. As I said in the original post, I haven't been able to use them for a few years. I changed jobs last month and will finally have a lot more time to do what I enjoy. I am so looking forward to it. Now I just have to wait out the winter.
