GG6 backing plate
I am getting a GG6 for Christmas. I currently have PC with a 3.5" & 5" lake country baking plate. I am thinking of using just the 3.5" on the PC and the 5" on the new GG6. So, my question is. Would a weekend warrior notice difference between the LC 5" backing plate and the GG vented backing plate? Is it worth upgrading to the GG vented plate?
Thanks for your comments.

Re: GG6 backing plate
No. More than likely you won't notice a difference. At least I didn't. Its supposed to dissipate heat and if you don't polish very often and switch out pads continuously it won't hurt to stick with your LC backing plates.

Can't say I felt a difference between backing plates. My GG6 does wear the vented one sometimes.
Bigger difference is felt using the newer thin pads. At least in my experience

Yes. You will almost certainly destroy your pads if you apply moderate to high pressure with the LC backing plate. It happened to me consistently until I bought the vented plate. Then the problem disappeared immediately.

Re: GG6 backing plate
ive only used the stock 6 inch and then the 5 inch vented. ive never had overheating issues with the pads. I also switch out on every panel but with panels that need a little more love they never get hot.

Re: GG6 backing plate
I personally can tell a massive difference between the Griot's 5" vented backing plate and the 5" Buff & Shine & LC backing plates. I've tried all 3 and IMO the griot's 5" BP keeps pads 5-10% cooler. No matter which BP you use make sure you are rotating pads after every 1-2 panels to allow them to cool and used compressed air to blow out both foam and microfiber after every pass.
A word of caution, if you are using closed cell foam pads don't use compressed air as it will destroy the cell structure of the foam.
