RaggTop / Fluoropolymer on Paint and Glass

Winter is coming and I wanted to get a coat of sealant on the top of my BMW 135i convertible. It never gets used below freezing or when there is any sign of salt on the roads, but I do try to run it on occasion during the winter, including rainy days.

Ive used BMW liquid protectant since new. I like the control of being able to sponge on, vs aerosol. Given time of year when I'm doing it, this time I opted for RaggTop. I figure it's about the same stuff.

I taped up and worked to protect from overspray, but still got some on the glass and paint. It got me thinking. Is this an issue??

Raggtop claims the fabric top formulation is safe on paint and whatnot. Obviously I wiped off the residues carefully and as best as I could. But is this stuff bad for paints? I suspect where I rubbed will bead water like crazy (no opportunity to check).

Has anyone observed beading on paint or glass where RaggTop or similar fluoropolymer has been? Ive never had this situation with the BMW stuff because it's always been easy to control as a liquid.

    Thanks!

My my curiosity is what the protectant may do for paint and glass water beading.

isnt aquapel, as an example, a fluoropolymer sealant?

    •IMO:
    -First...You didn’t seem all that
sure of it actually being paint-safe.

    -Secondly..Then perhaps you shouldn’t
have wiped off the overspray; that way:
you could have conducted your own first
    hand experimentation/testing—instead of
relying purely on others’ protocols and
    testing methodologies.
