Question Exterior Trim, Bumper & Tire Gel

WOW!!! It has been a few years since I've been on the forum. Since I'm on disability, I'm getting myself back into detailing vehicles again.

So, I have a question. What gel do you like to use on the exterior rubber moldings on vehicles? I thought "Black Again" was suppose to be the best one out there. Boy, was I wrong. What recommendations do YOU HAVE for a long lasting gel for vehicles exterior rubber moldings. I will not use any type of spray gel on vehicles. I'm thinking about "Nanoskin Speedy Shine"?

    Thanks for your recommendations.

Well, I've had my Mazda for over 3 years and it only has less than 27k miles on it. It has always been parked outside. So, it needs restoring or it can be maintained. Don't get me wrong. It's not in bad shape. The Jeep Grand Cherokee that I detailed over 6 years ago needs its moldings restores and I thought that Black Again would be able to do it. As for my Mazda, it sits outside 24/7. The paint is in great shape. I'm going to put on some Mr. Fix9H Coating onto it in the next two weeks.

Out of Curiosity, has anyone ever tried to use some Kiwi Saddle Soap to help soften and preserve rubber moldings on vehicles?

I haven’t. I’m currently using 303 Rubber Seal Protectant on window, door, hood, and trunk rubber seals.

Re: Exterior Trim, Bumper & Tire Gel

A little over 7 months ago I applied CarPro's DLUX on my exterior trim and its still going strong, all my trim has a light pebble-grain finish - not smooth. And, last week I finally got around to applying McKee's 37 Trim Restorer on the smooth plastic pieces inside the wheel wells and also to the smooth plastic area by the wipers. I can't speak to McKee's longevity yet but I CAN say that the areas where I used their product looks fantastic. ...I've read DLUX can be finicky on smooth plastic, that's why I decided to try McKee's 37 on those areas. So far I'm happy with both products.

Re: Exterior Trim, Bumper & Tire Gel

I recently compared Wolfgang Exterior Treatment against Mckee's Trim Restorer.

The WETS spanked if for longevity in my personal comparison on my personal vehicle. I had been uisng WETS on my Rougue for well over a year which has a lot of exterior rubber trim.

IMHO #37 kind of strikes me as a more watery version of WETS. Just my opinion from my personal use of both products not out to start a war

I'll use up the Mckee's but stick with WETS in the long term.

A couple weekends ago I did my post summer wash and shine up and the trim needed to be attended to. I had a full bottle of Car Pro PERL sitting around that I had never tried. I put it on the Rogue's trim and tires.

I rained last week and it streaked big time!!! Major failure.
