Gyeon Mohs problem

It is about 56 degrees in my garage with the humidity of 57%. I applied Gyeon Mohs today to the rear bumper of my car following the instructions to the T. After I wiped off the second layer after 1 hour of waiting from the first coat I noticed the paint at some areas is cloudy. I believe those are high spots but I only waited less than 2-3 minutes before wiping. Does anyone know what’s going on?




Look at the paint right below the big circle in the photo. I believe I may have to polish those areas again using a Rupes yellow pad.....

I've never used Gyeon so I may be wrong. Judging from my experience with some other coatings I would say at the lower temperature the wait time between the two layers should have been longer. How long did you wait, and how long do the instructions say to wait?

You may be right. The instructions say wait at least an hour but maybe that's under perfect conditions. I only waited an hour and definitely should have waited a lot longer, but I don't have all of the time in the world....

Is it just in an isolated part of the larger coated area or the entire coated area?

Could be leftover polishing oils/solvents that weren't completely removed before coating. Have had that happen before even after prep wipedown. Mohs can be pretty close to wipe on/wipe off as well.

Mohs has a very fast initial bond with the paint. You can begin to remove excess product between 30-45 seconds after application, and up to 2 minutes. At the 30-45 seconds the product is very easy to remove. It may begin to tack up closer to the 2 minute mark. It is this quick initial bond that makes the product extremely easy to use. Use a light during this stage as well to help with product removal.

The cloudiness is present on a few areas, not the entire coated area. And the cloudiness appeared right after I applied the second coat. Did not see anything after the first coat. I thought I had removed all of the product after the 1st coat was wiped..,..

BTW the entire area was wiped down 3 times using Eraser, with each time leaving the Eraser on the surface for an extended period of time. So, I believe the surface was as bare as humanly possible.

I had used Cquartz and Cquartz UK previously and both left a little bit of oily residue (like Reload) but with Gyeon Mohs it’s completely dry without any slickness at all. I was slightly surprised with this characteristic.

Gyeon says that Mohs can be layered, doesn’t
necessarily mean it should—that is to say (again,
IMO): if one layer of any given ‘Coating’ doesn’t
suffice, then it’s time for a change-up.

This reminds me of how you were so adamant about Meguiars D115 being a "rinseless wash" solely based on a comment from someone affiliated with Meguiars [Mr. Stoops] ...A comment that was said once and never officially recommended again, and a method no one including yourself uses that product for...

I see this thread now. I typically waited less time between application and wiping. In my experience, that was around 30-45 seconds. Also, I would have waited longer to apply the second layer. To answer the question of whether a second layer is needed, I don't think one is needed.
