    Color darkening

I have a Ford Taurus that is a little faded and I added food coloring to some meguires. It seems darker but it's night time so I am going to wait to look at it tomorrow. I only did the hood so far.

If I truly wanted to make a difference to that particular vehicle I would've started with step #1 and that would've been the wheels & tires.

#2 would've been a much needed 4' foot wide "headlight restoration".

    #3 would've been a thorough claybar session.

#4 would've been compound, then finally the Meguiars Cleaner Wax you're using minus the food coloring... Seriously, food coloring? Lol.

I think the yellow is inside the light bar but if it has to come apart why not add some LEDs inside right?

It turned out. I am going to try for some regular wax on the fender and see if it is dark also. I have a cooler full of different wax buried somewhere.

Looks like you need a re-paint. Is this the first car you've owned?

    Re: Color darkening

This is the 17th car I have owned and the rest of the car is fine. I only really need to paint the hood but it isn't going to match the rest of the car. I don't plan on using this car for anything else but being parked. It has 131 k warped rotors all around bald spots on the tire tread a questionable transmission the cooling system needs work but did not overheat and an abs fuse.

Is it April 1st. ? I think I'd run down to your local auto store and buy a can of paint and go that route . Or you could just wrap it with a carbon fiber like film .
