The owner of the truck in my post i linked to here used an ozone machine for many hours over multiple days and it didnt get the smell out. This product did. i highly recommend it. Read my review.
Not knocking the product but just pointing out that your customer and many including a nieghbor of mine who is texting me today about this very subject, likely didn't set up the machine to run correctly. That is putting the machine outside the vehicle or inside with a completely fresh air intake attached to it.

People seem to forget that ozone generators need oxygen to breathe in order to convert into ozone gas. Ozone generators proactively introduce new ozone gas into the treatment area to react with odor molecules the air. The higher the quality of air entering the machine the higher the quality of ozone will be created. This includes ensuring that the machine does not breathe it's own product or that the humidity of the air is not high. Doing so will impact the dielectric properties of the plates within the unit. Make sure that there is a supply of clean, dry air entering the machine.

Re: VERY stubborn smoke smell. Please help!

I bought my 08 4runner 5 years ago and it too was owned by a smoker. After multiple treatments/ cleanings the 2 best things I did was get the carpets/upholstery professionally steam cleaned and swap out the cabin filter. For awhile I use to keep the windows at least cracked to help air it out also. Eventually the smell went away or I've gone nose blind. I will never again no matter how good the deal or sweet the ride buy a smokers car again though.

Maybe take a boars hair detail brush and some soap to all the interior plastic?

I'm just bumping this topic again.

Question, when you run the ozone machine with one window cracked for oxygen, do you run the a/c in recirculate as well? Or is that only as a supplemental step towards the end?

I've thought that you would always run the a/c in recirculate from the start.
