But regardless quick detailer should not etch or damage anything if some is left sitting by chance.

Not sure about long term use, but if you feel uncomfortable cut it with distilled water. Another thought is blow dry the areas you can't reach.

Hold your rag at the bottom of the tank with one hand, spray with other. You'll catch the dripping QD spray.
