    Windshield Failed the Baggie Test

Driving home in the evening sun I noticed small "specs" all over my windshield. Car is approx. 2 months old with no real highway miles. Cleaned it and did the baggie test and it feels very rough. Is this iron contamination? I clayed the paint when I first got it but didn't really do anything to the windshield. What do you think?

Probably just pine tar or some other type of sap.

Your windshield always takes a beating from rocks, stones, dust etc .. all windshields end up like this over time.

Glass is a different substance than paint. (Not to sound condescending).

IMO, glass will never pass the baggie test for most of us. And yes, I'm sure there will be many more posts rebuffing me, but I'm a 90%er.

I've tried clay and steel wool and they didn't do anything. Could it be rail dust since it's only 2 months old and I didn't use anything on the windshield when I first got the car. Would rail dust survive clay and steel wool?

1.) Using steel wool on auto-glass:
-A big no-no in my book.
    -Didn't help the situation

    2.) It's a link for obtaining a
    replacement windshield.
    -(Or...There's always Safelite.)

    3.) Windshields are an integral
part of the cabin's overall safety
    and protection system.

This is what I do with my exterior glass. I clean it, then clay it, then clean it again. Next I polish it with Wolfgang Perfekt Vision Glass Polish polishes and restores auto glass windshields and windows.. I have done it by hand with great results. I prefer to use my Griot's DA with a CarPro Rayon Glass Polishing Pad, glass leveling discs, there is a noticeable difference. Wipe it down and the I use Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Glass Coating. Glass is clear as all get out, and the hydrophobic action is amazing!
