He's going to say because it leaves little bits of metal dust behind which will wind up rusting once any kind of moisture comes in contact with it.. However there's a easy solution/prevention to that happening. Simply have your Master Blaster Sidekick handy as you're going along making sure to blow any dust away from the glass and any trim etc.
And since you shouldn't be using/needing any "lube" for the steel wool there shouldn't be any moisture whatsoever throughout the whole process. Just good clean working.
As far as what you can do to clean your glass at this point: Magic Eraser w/diluted APC as lube. Start easy and adjust your pressure as needed. Good luck.

It'll scratch the pi$$ out of it, that's
why. And: don't let anyone else try
to convince you otherwise!

Yeah, that's proof;
Sure thing...
Sounds about as logical as
no lube for steel wool...but
lube is needed for Magic Eraser.

No lube is needed for steel wool. Have you ever even used it? Doesn't sound like it.
Even the directions on the label of the Magic Erasers say to use lube. Have you ever used them? Doesn't sound like it either.

After all this cleaning should the windshield be waxed/coated/sealed after?

If I went through all that effort,I know I would have to put Something on it with the thought it would keep it cleaner longer. That & I like watching the water beads fly off when driving in rain. Been lots of that here lately.
