How to remove headliner glue

I have some brown headliner glue showing along one edge of the headliner from a interior installer. How long ago I have no idea, but it is at least 8 years old. I have tried, mineral spirits, WD40, GooGone to no avail. I even tried acetone, it worked a little bit, but afraid to go at it for too long as it might create some other problem

Its probably dried and crusty? Doubt anything that old will come out easy.

Use a razor blade to remove the "top" parts and you could try heat (steam) for the rest.

It is indeed dried, but not enough material to warrant the razor approach. Not sure about the steam part. How do I do the steam part?

3M adhesive remover. If it's really dried on, soak a cloth and hold it on the dried adhesive for a little while.

I have used this product for years in the marine industry. It removes things acetone won't even touch.
