Help a newbie with first Polisher purchase
Looking to take advantage of the current 20% off sale and wanted to get a polisher than wouldn't hurt the pocket too much.
Currently looking at the Griot's 6" Random orbital polisher.
Would this be a good buy or do you guys suggest something else?
Other items currently on the list is
-CarPro Essence
-Mckees paint coating
-5" backing plate? (Which one?)
I have never coated the car before so this is my first venture with this type of product. I've always used WGDGPS on all my cars and wanted to switch things up.
How's the essence on clearing up swirl marks and such? My car is a year old and silver color so it doesn't show the swirl marks too much. My wife's car on the other hand, her car is black and in need of a paint correction badly. I think m205 and ultimate polish will be sufficient for her car.
Lastly, what pads do you guys suggest using?
I'm thinking LC white pads and Orange pads.

I like Buff & Shine's pads a little more than LC, you can't go wrong with either.

Bummer, I really like it better than the LC 5" BP and I have both. I currently have the B & S BP on my G6.

The Meguiar's BP is really nice! Thin, and dense.
I also really like the 3M 20206. Thin, dense, and throughly vented.

For the buff & shine pads.
Yellow, Orange and white are all I need?

That kit doesn't come with enough pads. You need atelast a minimum of 3 of each and 6 of each would be better. he pad is what touches the paint, it's crticial to have plenty of clean fresh pads during a polish. Also, the harder you work a pad the quicker it dies, heat kills pads, it destorys the foam structure and the polish and dirt from the paint builds up in the pad.
Copy. I'll just pick up white and orange pads then.

Those links you're posting are all chopped off when you click on them, but yeah that's a good bp.
I toss my pads in the washing machine and use 3d towel kleen. Those orange pads I posted came out pristine. Any good ap cleaner is basically the same as a pad cleaner.
These are also my favorite polishes, user friendly, highly effective and very economical.
