Re: Recommendations for a wheel sealant?

Gonna have to check out Hydro 2. I still have and like Poor Boys Wheel sealant.

Re: Recommendations for a wheel sealant?

Thanks for the help and info guys, I ended up cross shopping hydro 2 and McKee's hydro blue. After seeing they had the hydro blue wash kit discounted I got that since it had a few other Mckee products I wanted to try out. I can't wait!

Re: Recommendations for a wheel sealant?

There are many options and different routes you can go.

If you want a wax like sealant for your wheels, because you enjoy detailing your car. McKee's 37 Wheel Glaze is the perfect option for you. It does add shine and slickness to the wheel. If you want your wheels super slick its wise to clay before you apply the glaze. (The Slicker the wheel is the harder it is for brake dust to stick)

Here is a video on Wheel Glaze.

If you want more durable protection McKee's 37 Wheel Coating is very easy to apply you can expect up to 1.5 years after applying. It is easy to apply prep is key for best performance.

Here is a video on the Wheel Coating.

If you want a easier route that is going to add really good protection, I would recommend Hydro Blue!

Here is a video review I personally did on Hydro Blue, I get to the wheels around 4:25.

Another option that would be an alternative to a wheel wax product is Klasse SG or Collinite 845. Even though they are normally associated with paint protection, I've used both on my wheels and seen 3~4 months of durability.

They aren't as easy as the spray on products nor are they as durable as the wheel coating, but they are a viable option if you have some on hand.

Hey guys. just wondering if it would be safe to use the Pinnacle Black label Wheel Coating on headlights to prevent the plastic from "clouding" back up after they are buffed out? has anyone ever tried this?

Thumbs up Re: Recommendations for a wheel sealant?

I put PBL paint coating on my brand new wheels over the winter while they waited for the spring install and did 3 coats, waiting plenty of time inbetween because I had the time. That said, these wheels clean up VERY VERY easy, so I have nothing but good things to say about using this product on brand new wheels!

Re: Recommendations for a wheel sealant?

Best protection in the following order according to me for what it's worth

    1. An actual wheels off wheel coating. Many to choose from. Most involved in terms of effort.
    2. A spray on sealant like Car Pro Hydro or Blue. Super easy to apply and you would probably do it every 2-3 months
    3. A wheel wax. To me these don't last long and it requires getting down and dirty.

I currently go w Method #2. It also works well for grills. Good luck.

I use the Gtechniq C4 wheel armour.

Seems to last longest, but I SiO product regularley to maintain.

The C4 goes on nice and really shines so happy with that.

If I was doing shop detailing the SiO products would be the way to go.

Re: Recommendations for a wheel sealant?

Brand new wheels would be a perfect time to use a coating. Would not need a lot of prep. My wheels are coated with whatever Optimum product was popular 3 years ago. Still holding up, and I hit it with Reload every few months.
