That said, the HF DA is way more powerful than the 7424xp but if you aren't using a quality backing plate & pads then that is most likely the culprit.
Try the Griot's 5 inch backing plate paired with a flat buff and shine pad and make sure it's centered perfectly on the backing plate. Also, there's no reason you should ever really need to go over speed 5 with that polisher.
I have a hf machine its smooth but extremely loud.I have 3 gg6 that need repair.So for now 48.00 gets the job done you just have to get use to it or bring it back.The hf is like driving a corvette versus the gg6 which is a cram puff smooth cadillac.

The LC Flat pads? They will serve you well.
I never knew what I was missing until I tried LC Thin Pro pads I received as a sample. It was a very different experience for the better. My plan now is to slowly convert to the thin pads through attrition.

I agree the thin pads work so much better IMO on a HF especially
