1st time - how many passes?
I bought Megs DA and Megs ultimate polish and ultimate compound.
How many passes are required for compounding and for polishing? Ball park would be fine, vehicle has some moderate to deep snatches.
My first time so I thought I should ask.
1 pass = going vertical then horizontal.

Re: 1st time - how many passes?
I think this is not exactly a straightforward question to answer, as I feel there are too many variables. All paint on vehicles is different, based on variations in paint being harder or softer. A process that may work on my vehicle, may not work so well on yours.
You will be the only person to really answer your question based on the tools you are using, the pads you are using, the compounds you are using, etc. You will see many recommend to do a small test spot to dial in your process.
See the progress after one pass and see if that is what you are expecting. Do another pass and see if it improved anything, and repeat the process, until you see no more improvement, or have reached the point of diminishing return. From there, you will have a good idea on what will be the best way to tackle that vehicle.
Good luck!

It's really hard to say. The type of paint on the car and the pads your using and even the polisher will make a huge difference.
The best thing is to do a test spot to see how the results turn out to your satisfaction. If you search for Mike Phillips article on doing test spots it serves as a very good guide on the topic.
EDIT: Ha! Simultaneous posts!
Just saw this is your first post....Welcome!

All the above are all very good points but if you were to place an "average" I'd say it's pretty standard to do 6 passes and then generally you can adjust from there until you get dialed in

Watch this video. Not only do I explain what "Section Passes" are but I explain and show exactly how to do them.
I also explain how and show how to do a Test Spot. You will learn so much by watching this one video. I wrote the definition for both Section Pass and Test Spot and this video shows and explains both in detail.
